STATEWIDE MASK MANDATE 

We have enjoyed seeing your gorgeous faces and smiles during the time the state's mask mandate was removed. We received news that our governor has reinstated the indoor mask mandate. 

As a business in Oregon choosing to be compliant with the current state mandate, starting Friday, August 13th, masks will be required when entering the shop and shopping.

Your cooperation and respect to our staff, and other customers is greatly appreciated while we all wait for the mask mandate to be lifted once again. Stay safe friends!

END OF THE SUMMER UPDATE

GUYS! We're almost back to functioning back to 100%! We've decided to keep our current hours until the rest of the year and open more days + hours next year! Also, buying will continue happening everyday & end one hour before closing.

We've had a crazy pandemic journey and we appreciate your time and patience as we try to navigate this path. Here are some great updates we've all been waiting for:

Buying limit: Bring up to 50 items per person, per day! 

Dressing rooms: 3/4 rooms are open (social distancing available) 

Payments: Still offering contactless payments like Apple Pay

Cashing out when your selling your items: Vemno, PayPal, and Zelle are available for cash-outs over $45

Well, I guess we can't say we haven't been here before. We are doing our part by enforcing stricter guidelines to keep everyone safe. Here are some changes you might experience next time you come in: 

• Our shop capacity is 3 customers and 1 employee
• Our dressing rooms are closed 
• Shop hours have shortened. We close at 5pm everyday and buying will end at 4pm.

Our buying policy will remain the same:

1 customer can bring in 20 items person per day in a sanitized bag or container.

PERMANENT SHOP HOURS & A LETTER FROM THE OWNER

We hear you and value your concerns. This year has been extremely taxing and we decided to be open 5 days a week (instead of 7) until further notice. We know that not everyone will be able to come in and shop during our new hours but we value your business. I plan to offer private shopping appointments to those who really want to come in and shop! More info on that will be provided in the next couple weeks. Please read the next paragraph as I explain this change. 

I have been working extremely hard for the past five years and have been burnt out many times. I feel the right to say that I need a break to focus on myself. Being front and center everyday and juggling everything that needs to happen behind the scenes is the role every business owner takes. It's not always fun or rewarding but it's something that brings me joy and comes naturally to me. I'm afraid I don't have the bandwidth to work like I did in the beginning. My priorities 5 years ago (when I first started working as the Owner) are different now. I don't like to share my personal life to people I don't know and I hope you can understand and respect that. "Sharing every detail of your personal life" wasn't in the job description. Moving forward, being open during this pandemic has been an eye-opening blessing. I plan to continue taking two days off to focus on my physical and mental health. Thank you for supporting my little business and from the bottom of my heart, your support makes my gloomy days bright.

UNLUCKY ST. PATTY'S DAY

March has presented some curveballs and we've decided to cut back on some hours during the Covid-19 debacle. We want to try & stay open until we're told it's no longer safe because of the size of our shop. When the shop gets busy, there's usually about 5-8 people in here at once. We're so excited to start this new year with positive vibes and grateful hearts. This upcoming year will come with some changes. Starting Jan. 2nd, we will no longer allow a combination of discounts. This policy will allow only 1 discount to be used at checkout: 

1. BYOB (bring your own reusable bag) discount= 10% off
2. Military discount= 10% off
3. Senior discount= 10% off
4. 1 full stamp card= $10 off (limit was 2 full stamp cards; policy will only allow use of 1)

Getting stamps only apply to cash, debit, or credit card purchases. Full stamp cards and other discounts can be used in combination with trade.

Who else is bundled up in a million layers? We are! December is one of our favorite months because of the lights, cozy layers, warm drinks, & good company. This month also represents the end of another year & the beginning of a new one. With all new beginnings, have you considered cleaning out your closet? We buy gently used women's & junior's clothing shoes and accessories. You will recieve 30-35% cash or 40-55% in-store credit to spend in our shop! We base our decisions mainly on style (current, classic, comfortable), condition (like new or gently used), and item resellability (item's ability to resell in our shop). Did you know that we also buy 7 days/week? Our buying hours always ends 1 hour before closing. 

LET'S TALK ABOUTS GIFTS, BABY! This year we have a few options for fast ( & affordable) gifts! Currently available in the shop are magnets & ornaments that are handcrafted in Portland! We also have cresent moon rings that are made by hand in Dallas, TX! So exciting right? If you haven't been in the shop recently, you have to swing by & check them out before theyre all sold! Or if you've never been into the shop, this would be a great excuse to visit us! We love supporting small businesses & hope you do too! 

December is filled with dinners & parties (at least for us) & we'll have to close up shop early on Friday the 14th at 5pm. We're still figuring out our Christmas schedule but please plan on the shop being closed on the 23rd-25th & the 1st. 2019 PLANS

2019 is still 109 days away but hey, we like to plan things ahead. One of our plans is that we'll be hiring 1-3 people throughout the year. Our owner will be taking applications and resumes until maybe March of next year and start conducting interviews next month! If you know someone who's interested or you're interested hop on our "EMPLOYMENT' page and read our little list of criteria, then copy & paste the link! Another huge thing happening next year is that WE'RE TURNING 10 YEARS OLD! It's so crazy how fast time goes by cause it honestly feels like it was 2009 a couple years ago..... We're thinking about some fun ways to show our appreciation to our customers throughout the year and maybe throwing an anniversary party! Either way whatever happens, we're more than ready to welcome the new year and share it with you!

SHOP UPDATES (PRETTY IMPORTANT)

Hey everyone! We are gearing up for Fall and all the cute fashion that comes with falling leaves & pumpkin spice lattes. Speaking of Fall, we are now currently buying Fall items such as:

We'll be buying these items until April of next year (gotta love Oregon weather)! Buying for Winter won't start until October, so mark your calenders. Another update and a pretty important one is that we have decided to make our Summer Hours PERMANENT! Which will be: 

Monday-Thursday:

11am-6pm 

Friday & Saturday:

11am-7pm

Sunday: 

Noon-5pm

We're still buying 7 days a week & buying ends 1 hour before closing. Our decision stems from the lack of foot traffic right at the end of the day. We want to take this opportunity to sincerly apologize for any inconviences this will cause or have caused. Last but not least, we're adding Happy Hour deals EVERYDAY during the last week of every month! The only way you can cash in on the deals is by watching our Story on Facebook & Instagram! Woo-hoo! WANNA PUT SOMETHING ON HOLD? (read below)

If you didn't already know, we're super active on our social media accounts. Sometimes we post the cutest outfits or a pair of shoes you've been eye-ing at the mall. We have a hold policy specifically for social media. Trust me, you'll want to know how the hold policy works cause the stuff we post is crazy good. ;) 

HOW TO PUT SOMETHING ON HOLD VIA FACEBOOK OR INSTAGRAM:

1. Comment "HOLD (and mention what you want on hold)" & then proceed to ask for sizes and prices.
2. Then send us a direct message asking to hold.
3. MOST IMPORTANT STEP: You've only secured the hold once we've replied to you!
4. If we don't reply right away, give us a call! (better safe than sorry!)
5. Cool huh! Sometimes you're not the only one who wants the same thing. We count direct messages and comments as holds and we verify the time your request was made, then determine where you are on our waiting list.

 Our mission is to buy current styles and trends. We want to offer a quality selection of inventory, ranging from sizes XXS-4X. Next time you want to sell, give us a call to see what we're specifically looking for! We base our buying decision on style (contemporary & classic styles), condition (like-new or gently used), and item sellability (how well the item could sell for us). We also take our current inventory into consideration when we are buying. 

On another note, last summer we kept our normal shop schedule for the season. In the past, we would stay open longer to accommodate customers. This summer we decided to close up early during the weekdays this summer. It was nice to be open later but we noticed very little traffic the last two hours of the day. This summer our new schedule will be: Monday-Thursday: 11am-6pm (buying ends @ 5pm). Friday, Saturday, and Sunday's schedule will remain the same (with buying ending an hour before closing). If this is confusing, we'll have our Google listing updated with all this information (so Google us!). We decided to start this hour change: June 1st-TBA.

SEASONAL HOURS 

It's that time of year again where we switch back to our regular shop hours (insert excited emoji here). So, our normal (updated) hours are Monday-Saturday 11am-7pm and Sunday noon-5pm. Our buying hours are changing too! For the past year we decided to keep Sundays chill for us and not buy inventory that day but guess what? Our new buying hours are Monday-Saturday 11am-6pm and SUNDAY noon-4pm!!

Another thing we wanted to remind you of was that we close up the shop for many reasons (remodel projects, sick days, snow days, religious days, holidays etc.) and is the best way to know if we're going to be open on a specific day is to Google us! We constantly keep our Google listing up-to-date with ANY schedule changes so that's the best way to stay informed! Our Yelp page is another great way to stay informed with any specials or deals we are having. Our specialty is our social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) and we use those to showcase what we offer in the shop. Feel free to check out our pages!

OUR STORY

Flipside Apparel Exchange is a Springfield original and we're making sure our community stays in style. Established in 2009, we're one of the oldest locally owned resale apparel shops in town. We offer a unique collection of gently used women's clothing, shoes, and accessories; ranging from vintage to trendy styles. 

We started off as a mother/ daughter duo with a mission to provide a safe place for young girls to find cute styles without cracking open the piggy bank. As time went on, the daughter graduated from the University of Oregon, got married and now travels the world pursuing her dream. In 2014, the mother decided it was time to start a new chapter in life and decided to sell Flipside. She wanted to keep her hard work alive by selling her business to someone who would grow with the business. At that time, she decided to reach out to her employees and long behold, one of them was crazy enough to adopt her business. 

In 2015, our current owner Whitney bought the business and vowed to nurture and grow the business as her own without forgetting the hard work the mother and daughter put into the shop. Whitney's always loved fashion and can't remember a time where she wasn't day-dreaming about owning her own business. After working at Flipside for a year, she was offered the opportunity of a lifetime. After cashing in all her pennies, she bought the shop from the mother and daughter. Now she's determined to spruce it up and dreams of another location. Whitney is always on hand to help you choose the perfect look and she aims to provide a shopping experience that's exclusive and personalized while maintaining all the fun in thrifting! Trends, like personal style, are ever-evolving and our mission is to make sure our customers maintain a wardrobe that speaks true to who they are. Come see Whitney and share her love of style!

FALL + WINTER 

hello there!

The seasons are changing and so are the shop's hours! We'll be closing an hour earlier than normal which also means our buying will end an hour earlier. Also, we'll be opening an hour later on Sunday and will stick with no buying on Sundays. If you have any questions, please send us an email or give us a phone call!
